I am a Catholic. I am a convert. I became a Catholic by choice and an act of will. Most of all I am a Catholic by an act of God and by the prayers of my Mother-in-law through Our Lady of Fatima.
Today, I learned that: (See this story)
Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton’s campaign communications director Jennifer Palmieri and Center for American Progress fellow John Halpin mocked conservative Catholicism as an “amazing bastardization of the faith” in new emails released by WikiLeaks.
Halpin went on to say:
“Many of the most powerful elements of the conservative movement are all Catholic (many converts) from the SC and think tanks to the media and social groups. It’s an amazing bastardization of the faith. They must be attracted to the systematic thought and severely backwards gender relations and must be totally unaware of Christian democracy,”…
As I said, I am a Catholic convert and to Hillary Clinton’s campaign, I am a “deplorable”.
I am going to vote on November 8th. I will vote my conscience and I have worked hard to ensure I have an informed conscience.
I received guidance from the Virginia Catholic Council in the form of the voting guide Know the Positions of the Presidential Candidates that was in the Sunday bulletin at St. John the Baptist. It is both sad and unfortunate that the parishioners of St. Peter’s have not and likely will not receive any similar guidance in their bulletin.
Some of the issues at stake in this presidential election are very important to me. Please let me share with you a statement made by Judie Brown of the American Life League in the press release American Life League Statement on the 2016 US Presidential Election:
American Life League does not endorse or oppose specific candidates. At this time in the presidential election, we wish to remind everyone that the results of this election could make the difference in future Supreme Court nominees, in the laws that are passed, and in the programs that may or may not be funded. We urge all voters to closely examine the position of all candidates—including the presidential and vice presidential candidates of all parties—regarding abortion.
There are those who are talking about sitting out this election. I ask you not to do that. We are the only voice that preborn babies have; we are Americans who hold our right to vote among the most important of our freedoms in this nation. So please go to the polls and vote for those persons whom you believe will do the most GOOD for the preborn, rather than harm.
We know that God is in charge and that these babies belong to Him alone. Let us do our part to exercise our freedoms on behalf of God’s children. And, please, pray for our nation.
To conclude where I began. I am a Catholic convert. I am a Sheep in Exile. I see the attack of the Evil One on all sides. Tomorrow is October 13. In keeping with the message of Mary and the Miracle of the Sun, pray the Rosary so that God will have mercy on our nation.
Our Lady of Fatima – Pray for us!
